It also means that my weekends are no longer taken up trawling through Rightmove and looking round rubbish flats at extortionate prices. I took full advantage of that this weekend, and hot-footed it to the Saatchi gallery to see Chanel's Little Black Jacket exhibition before it ends next Sunday. It didn't disappoint, and neither did my cheeky little shopping trip afterwards. I bought this great top from Whistles for the bargain price of £35 in the sale, and jumper at the newly-opened Brandy Melville on King's Road.
Adam and I also enjoyed a great meal at Le Mercury on Upper Street (great value, great food - definitely recommended!) before a night out in Shoreditch. Safe to say today was a day of recovery, but at least we celebrated our flat finding in style!

I've been neglecting the blog recently and I've really been missing it...just shows how attached I've become! You may have read this in an earlier post but I've recently moved down to London to join the real world and get a proper grown up job. It's a bit of a big move and every spare hour is taken up trying to find a flat (which is proving to be a niiightmare - property in London is expensive and goes really quickly!)
But I did manage to sneak a spare half an hour to do these pictures and get a bit of a blogging fix. Loving the military trend at the moment although not sure if I'll go for the full on camo!

I recently reached 200 GFC followers (and have since exceeded this) and I just can't believe it. I started this blog at the start of 2012, and never thought that anyone outside my family (well, no one inside my family for that matter) would read it, never mind follow and post such lovely comments!
So to show my appreciation I have decided to host a giveaway...although I have no idea what to actually include in the prize. I know a lot of giveaways normally include beauty products but as this blog doesn't really focus on beauty, I don't really want to do that.
Is there anything that you would like to see included? What do you like to get out of a giveaway? I'm thinking maybe a sort of 'goodie bag' with some of my favourite things...any thoughts? Much appreciated!

Perfect Chocolate Brownies
I love baking, and think there's nothing better than a home-cooked meal or fresh cakes straight out of the oven. I made brownies for the first time in ages yesterday and don't know why I don't more often...they're easy to make and taste so much better than shop-bought ones! They're going down a treat in my house so I thought I'd share the recipe with you lovely lot.
Ingredients
175g margarine
350g caster sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
3 eggs
100g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
75g cocoa powder
Method
- Grease and line a baking tin, and set the oven to Gas mark 4/180 C/350 F
- Melt the margarine in a pan over a low heat, then pour into a large mixing bowl. Add the sugar and vanilla essence
- Beat the eggs in a cup or small bowl, then slowly add to the rest of the mixture, mixing them in well
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. Mix well
- Pour the mixture into the tin, smoothing it with a knife or back of a spoon
- Bake for 40 minutes. To check that they're done, stick a fork in and it should come out clean
- Leave them to cool for about 10 minutes then lift the paper (along with brownies) out of the tin, and cut into squares
- Enjoy with a cup of tea!
Through the Letterbox
I love getting things through the post (except bills!) and today my new Asos sunnies came through...
I just think they're so cute and fun, I can't wait to wear these bad boys out.
Another thing that has recently come through the (virtual) letterbox is a job offer! I will be moving down to London next weekend to start my new job as an Editorial Assistant and I can't wait. I graduated last year and decided to take a bit of a gap yah (see the Travels page) before embarking on 'real life', and when I got back in June I never anticipated just how hard it was going to be to get a job. You always hear about how bad the job market is in the UK and how there are record numbers of people in unemployment, but you don't really know what that means until you are one of those numbers.
I've got a good degree from a good university, done my share of unpaid work experience - surely I'd be racking up the interviews and job offers? But no, I was brought down to reality and pretty much spent my summer trawling job sites, only to find...nothing, day after day. But I persevered. Sitting around all day watching Real Housewives may sound like fun but in reality it's boring, and I didn't want to be a statistic any longer (and hey, my wardrobe isn't going to stock itself).
I feel really lucky to have landed myself a job and certainly won't be taking it for granted. For those of you still looking, keep at it and try not to get disheartened (easier said than done). There may not be loads of jobs out there but you'll get one eventually!
