Travel: A weekend in Brussels
A couple of weeks ago my man and I escaped London for the weekend and hopped on to the Eurostar to Brussels. I hadn't been out of the UK since February when I went to Cape Town, and whilst it was a great holiday, I definitely did miss a summer getaway this year. So, when a too-good-to-miss offer from Eurostar popped up in my inbox, I couldn't say no.
Before this trip I'd never been to Belgium so was keen to see what the capital had to offer. Brussels is a pretty small city, which makes it perfect for a short break. Similar to many European cities, it's full of narrow cobbled streets, historic charm, patisseries, and a H&M on every corner. Oh, and every other building is a bar.
We mostly spent our time wandering the streets, exploring the city, stopping off for waffles and a tipple, and stocking up on chocolates to take home. The food was fantastic and overall, prices were cheaper than the likes of Paris, Barcelona and Rome.
These are just a few snaps from our trip but you really need to visit to appreciate it fully. I'll be popping up full outfit posts from my time there shortly!
Outfit: Shearling jacket and over-the-knee boots
Shearling jacket: c/o Missguided
Jumper: Selected
Skirt: ASOS (similar)
Boots: c/o Missguided
Lust of the week: ASOS White leather joggers
In last week's lust of the week I blogged about an ASOS White co-ord and this week my love for the brand extends to these leather joggers. These are the epitome of sports luxe (boy am I glad that trend is here to stay) and would look with a pair of trainers, like here, or dressed up with a pair of heels.
Outfit: Aztec bomber jacket
Jacket: c/o Chiara fashion
Top: Oasis
Faux leather trousers: Topshop
Flats: Zara
I'm loving the bomber jacket trend that has been doing the rounds the past couple of seasons - they're perfect for this time of year when you need a jacket but it's still too warm to go for a full winter coat. The aztec print of this one from Chiara fashion is great for brightening an otherwise all-black outfit.
Outfit: Warehouse leather shift dress
Dress: c/o Warehouse
Flats: Zara
This look is really simple but (I think) foolproof. This faux leather shift from Warehouse is a perfect LBD to have in your wardrobe as the fabric, pockets and exposed zip are style details that give it a bit of an edge. It could be dressed up but I decided to keep it quite minimal with a pair of pointy flats and a bold red lip.
Lust of the week: ASOS White co-ord
The co-ord is showing no signs of leaving the fashion world yet, and I for one am very happy. I love the unusual print of this set from ASOS White and the colours are great for A/W. This might just have to be one to add to the wardrobe (I'm going to need one JUST for co-ords at this rate...)
Outfit: Khaki and white at LFW
Coat: ASOS
Crop top: Boohoo
Culottes: Warehouse
Heels: ASOS
Clutch: Mirka @ Etsy
I hope you've all been enjoying London Fashion Week as much as I have...I seem to be spending all of my time glued to the live streaming of the shows! This season I could only head down to Somerset House on Saturday because the past week or so has been pretty hectic but this is the outfit I wore. I'm glad it's been pretty warm recently because it gave me the chance to wear light pieces and not freeze to death on the cobbles. Also loving this ASOS coat...think it's going to be a staple until I need to get the thicker wintery coats out!
Outfit: Printed Biba blazer with jumpsuit
Blazer: Biba c/o House of Fraser
Jumpsuit: Urban Outfitters (similar)
Heels: ASOS (similar)
I wouldn't normally go for such a bold print but this Biba blazer is pure retro-fabulousness. Paired with an all-black outfit, the jacket is calmed down a bit whilst still making a statement.
In other news, LFW is well under way! It's the most exciting time of year for fashion lovers; I'll be posting my outfits and news from this season's fashion week soon but in the meantime, keep updated with what I'm up to on Instagram and Twitter.
Lust of the week: Lavish Alice gold baroque dress
I love anything baroque and this metallic print is stunning. The two tiers of this Lavish Alice dress keep it fun and youthful and I think it would look great with bare legs for now, and black opaques in winter.
Outfit: Dungarees and white tee
Tee: New Look
Dungarees: River Island
Trainers: Nike (similar)
My last weekend was a really chilled out one. We'd been out of London for the past two weekends, so decided to spend this one getting reacquainted with our local area, having lazy mornings and checking out new places for brunch. I definitely needed a couple of days to just relax with no rushing around (especially as the manic-ness of LFW is only days away!) and casual outfits like this one are perfect for doing just that.
Outfit: Crop top and midi skirt
Crop top: Boohoo
Skirt: H&M (similar)
Wedges: ASOS
Cuff: Market (similar)
I'm going to be incredibly boring and talk about the weather again. Us Brits love it - not least because we seem to go from season to season and back again in a matter of days. We had a cold spell recently - what I thought marked the beginning of Autumn, and I was all ready to start embracing cosy knits and ankle boots. Then, last week it became summer again and my jumpers went reluctantly back into strorage. BUT it did mean I was able to rock a few outfits like this one. Pretty sure crop tops won't cut it in a month's time so I'm clinging on to looks like this while I still can.
Lust of the week: H&M Studio asymmetric dress
This week I've been drooling over the H&M Studio A/W 2014 collection. Seriously, I want everything so it was hard to wittle it down to just one thing. This slip dress is totally 90s minimalist cool and it's only £29.99! In fact, all the pieces are really well priced so my dream of having of each isn't completely out of reach. I just won't be able to eat for the next few months...
Outfit: grey dress and black duster coat
Duster coat: New Look
Dress: Cos
Jeans: Topshop
Flats: Zara
Are we officially in Autumn now? I don't mind really, because as much as I love the hot summer weather, autumn fashion is just so much better. And, of course, September also means fashion month!
This dress from Cos is one of my favourites and I like the way it breaks up the black in the rest of this outfit (but as you can tell from these photos it wrinkles like crazy within five minutes of putting it on...do you think I can get away with saying it's meant to look like that?!)
