And so it begins
This is it, I'm leaving the UK for 4 months of travelling bliss. First stop: Cape Town for two weeks of luxury with my family before the real travelling begins. This is my 'plane outfit'. This is actually pretty casual for me - I can never understand why people travel in 'lounge wear'.
Whilst it's freezing in the UK, the heat will hit me when we arrive tomorrow, so the tights can easily be whipped off, therefore leaving me with the perfect summer outfit. For the first time in my life I'm thinking practically about the clothes I wear. This trip is changing me already.

Un week-end à Paris
It's the week leading up to my travels, and what better way to spend it than a bit of quality time with the girls.
Last Thursday I went to the opening night of Liverpool Fashion Festival (I was going to write a separate post about this but the less said about it the better!), and the past weekend has been spent in Paris with girlfriends.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, happy valentine's day!

There's nothing quite like a weekend in Paris (despite the freeezing cold weather), and most of it was spent wandering the cobbled streets of Montmartre, drinking bottles of wine in Bastille, endless amounts of cafe stops, and gazing out at the Eiffel Tower from my friend's tiny flat.

Versatile Blogger Award
I received a very unexpected message today - the lovely Ellie at Tailored to an E has awarded me with the Versatile Blogger Award! I am so appreciative of this, especially as Style Trunk is such a new blog and I have been on the blogging scene for less than two months. To know that fellow bloggers enjoy my blog is such a pleasure, so thank you very much!
We all love to be nosy so here are 7 facts about me:
1. I have grown up in the North West of England, but my heritage is actually a mixture of Irish and Welsh.
2. I could eat pancakes every day (although I'm not a massive fan of the pre-made ones you get in the supermarket).
3. I am unable to resist Kurt Geiger.
4. I can be a bit of a food snob (see fact no. 2).
5. I love being organised (geek).
6. I love strong eyebrows (young Cindy Crawford rather than the Scouse Brow).
7. I love Moroccan jewellery and would easy-jet it over there on a regular basis just for the souks (if I had the money and/or time).
I know I'm supposed to award this to 15 other bloggers, but I have chosen 5 that I think truly deserve it and whose blogs I love to read (and I love breaking the rules):
The Shoes
Being a girl with a great love for shoes (especially the heeled variety), choosing which shoes to take travelling has been tough. I need practical, vaguely sensible shoes that will not take up too much space, and most importantly, go with multiple outfits. Below is the final cut:
Are four pairs too many to take?! Probably, but I can see no way of wittling them down any more. Flip flops for day-to-day use (not usually a Hollister fan but these are left over from when I worked there as a student and are actually really comfy), jewelled sandals for evenings and generally snazzing up outfits, pumps for pounding the streets and long journeys, and walking boots for the Inca Trail and any other hikes (yes, the tags are still on them...I'm yet to break them in...does walking round the house count?)
So, that's one aspect of my backpacker-wardrobe sorted. Now to tackle the clothes...
