Tomorrow is the beginning of September, which means London Fashion Week, my first real trip to Milan (any tips are greatly welcomed!) and the first ascent into autumn. I'm currently starting to adopt my autumnal wardrobe (although, in Manchester, it never really left) with rich burgundy, high neck tops and every type of jean you can think of - starting with this look. After months of the stores being full of light floral dresses and shorts that have no place in the UK, I actually can't wait to embrace the new season.

Last week my boyfriend and I decided to start the bank holiday early and headed up to the Lake District for a couple of days of country air, exercise that didn't require being inside a gym, and a lot of food and wine. 

We stayed at The Drunken Duck, up in the hills just above Ambleside where views of the surrounding countryside are completely unobstructed and the only noise you can hear is the odd Range Rover rolling past or the beer from the Inn's brewery being poured in the pub downstairs.  

Inside, the Drunken Duck is all country chic - think roaring log fires (thankfully not needed in August), Farrow & Ball on the walls, big sinkable beds and dressing gowns so fluffy I would have taken one home with me, had it been socially acceptable (and legal). 

The Inn is over 300 years old, so rooms (unless you pay a premium) come pretty small, the hallways are narrow, the floors creak and it isn't bedecked in mod cons - but that's all part of the charm. Here, the emphasis is on comfort, quiet luxury, attentive service, and incredible food.  

The Drunken Duck has won numerous awards for its restaurant, and it's easy to see why. On our first day we were treated to Afternoon Tea of huge homemade scones and real English brews in the bar, before getting ready for dinner that evening. Luckily, we'd worked up an appetite by going on a hike up the hills just behind the Inn, as we settled down to guinea fowl, ox cheeks, oversized macarons and some of the best wine I've had in a while. 

After an incredible night's sleep we were awoken with tea and papers brought to the room, before feasting on a huge, freshly cooked breakfast - the perfect fuel for the eight-mile hike we took in the Lake District fells.

Some of my favourite kinds of outfits are those ones I can just throw on and are comfortable - but still have that little element of luxury. This COS dress is silk and merino, with the deep emerald shade only adding to that premium feel - plus it's one of those pieces that don't need any adornment. Worn with a pair of ridiculously comfortable Keds, it's an outfit that's casual and completely effortless.

This is my third and final look from Copenhagen Fashion Week, but I'm still wishing myself back there. The weather wasn't great on the last day so I opted for ankle boots and layers as we spent the day writing show reports, visiting the Revolver trade show and spending a few Krone in COS. 

I bought this Ganni dress when I was last in the city and have finally been able to bring it out this summer. The oversized shape means I can layer it over other pieces or wear it on its own, depending on the occasion - and this one called for a bit of dressing down.

I've just got back from a whirlwind few days in Copenhagen for Fashion Week, showcasing the SS17 collections from Denmark's best designers. I went with work (read my show reports on Coggles here) so it was a bit of a hectic few days rather than a holiday, but still incredible nonetheless; I'll tell anyone who'll listen about my love for that city, and this trip only cemented that further. 

Everything about the city oozes effortless, understated style - from the architecture to the restaurants (the food is ridiculously good) and the boutiques to the coffee shops - and it's one of those places that you can just slot into with ease. 

This was the outfit I wore for our first day there, taking me from the airport to our beautiful Airbnb apartment in Vesterbro, straight out to see the Won Hundred show, then to a meeting and out for dinner. I bought this Ganni shirt from the Postmodern (outlet, to you and me) store when I was last in Copenhagen, so it was only fitting that I brought it out again this season, pairing it with cropped black trousers and ankle boots.

In my last post I expressed my love for these COS jeans and I wasn't joking; expect to see them cropping up a lot on my blog! This time I took the utilitarian style to the next level, pairing them with my boyfriend's short sleeved Folk shirt (he said I looked like I was about to go and work in a factory but I like to think that's his endearing code for 'I like your outfit'), slip on Zara shoes and classic UNKNOWN. watch complete with my initials etched in - go to my Instagram to see it in more detail.

Just over a week ago I headed to London for menswear trade show Jacket Required for work. It was only fitting, then, that I wore my extreme boyfriend fit jeans from COS. Man repelling? Maybe, but they're quite possibly the comfiest jeans I own and I love their utilitarian shape.

Carrying on my layering love with this outfit; dresses (or tunics) and culottes are pretty much all I'm living in this 'summer', mainly because it's a really easy look to wear and the different combination options are endless. This time it's the turn of my trusty Zara camel culottes and white Whistles dress (one of my best sale buys this year), along with my wear-everywhere flats from Coggles.
