Lust of the week: Topshop Harper flatforms
I kind of feel like I shouldn't like these flatforms from Topshop but I really do! So minimalist, and they remind me of something cool Japanese girls would wear. Come on weather - warm up so I have a reason to purchase these babies!
Outfit: black and gold
Coat: Zara
Roll neck jumper: ASOS
Skirt: Zara
Trainers: Nike (similar)
Carrying on with the all-black outfits that I seem to be living in this month (maybe it's time I started injecting a bit of colour into my winter wardrobe?!)
I've been daydreaming about all the new collections (and the time payday releases me from skint January so I can start investing in them!) but for now I'm having to try and come up with new outfit combinations with all the things in my wardrobe. Good for creativity I suppose...
On another note, I'm going to Cardiff this weekend and haven't been for aaages - I'd love to find some gems rather than stick to same-old high streety stuff so if you know of any cool little shops or cafes let me know!
P.S I'm hosting a giveaway at the moment - enter here!

Lust of the week: Biba trench coat
This week I received House of Fraser's SS14 Lookbook and I haven't been able to get this Biba trench out of my head since.
I love the classic British trench coat (perfect for English spring weather) and the leather panels on this one give it that little bit of an edge.
Exclusive discount with LOVE
January's a bit of a rubbish month isn't it? The festive buzz has worn off, it's cold, it's rainy, and we're all skint. The dregs of the sales are still lingering and slowly the new collections are trickling in but none of us have got any money to indulge in some new-season goodness. The worst.
This is why the lovely people at LOVE (inlovewithfashion.com) are treating you, dear readers, with an exclusive 30% discount off all their full-price items! Just use discount code LFA30. Very exciting news indeed. If you need any inspiration, I've compiled a little wishlist of my favourite items from the site.

Outfit: Camel coat and fedora
Fedora: Topshop (similar)
Dress: Topshop (similar)
Jacket: H&M
Shoes: Senso
Rings: New Look
It can be quite hard to get creative style-wise during winter when all you're doing is bundling up, so I've started experimenting with ways of wearing coats to make things a bit more interesting. In today's outfit I've knotted the sleeves a la Celine AW13; I love that it brings a whole new dimension to the outfit and it keeps the coat secure when shoulder-robing!
Lust of the week: Michael Kors Runway watch
I'm not much of a watch wearer but I am loving this one from Michael Kors. I have my trusty retro Casio watch that comes out on occasion but if this one entered my collection might just get a bit more airtime; I love the simplicity of the face and the embossed wrap around strap gives it that little something extra.
Recipe: protein pancakes
Like most people this January I'm on a bit of a health and fitness kick (trying to be at least!) I don't want to lose weight, I just want to improve my eating habits and tone up a few stubborn body parts (I'm looking at you lower belly).
Since the beginning of January I've been working out about four times a week and because of that I've invested in a protein shake to make sure my body recovers properly. This is something I never thought I'd do - protein shakes to me were always something men drank to bulk up - but after reading a few fitness blogs and doing some research I realised they can be beneficial for women too.
I bought the vanilla flavoured shake from PhD Woman's toning range (they also have a weight loss range and energy range) after seeing the brand mentioned on Lydia's blog. I drink a shake after my workouts and I've also been experimenting with how I can use the powder in recipes.
A couple of days ago I posted this picture on my Instagram of some protein pancakes I made for breakfast. So many variations come up if you google this recipe but this one is really easy - just a scoop of protein powder and two eggs (you could also just use egg whites), mix it up and then fry in a pan like normal pancakes.
The vanilla flavour of the powder makes them taste delicious and you feel like you've had an indulgent breakfast with none of the guilt. I added some raw chocolate coyo (dairy-free yoghurt made from coconut milk) and some golden syrup, but this would be great with berries too. The best bit is they kept me full until lunch so no snacking required!
Outfit: all black with a hint of leather
Turtle neck: ASOS
Faux leather top: Zara
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Senso
Ring: Topshop
An all-black outfit for today's post (if you can't do it in January, when can you?!) I had my eye on this faux leather top from Zara for a while before I took the plunge and bought it. I loved it but wasn't entirely sure how I'd style it and if I'd be able to pull it off but I've actually had more wear out it than I thought and am excited about finding new ways to wear it! Also loving these Senso (an Australian brand - check them out, their shoes are all gorgeous!) shoes which were a cheeky sale buy.
Lust of the week: Tommy Hilfiger neoprene swimsuit
I don't know about you but all this rain and grey skies is making me long for summer and days on the beach! I'm off to Cape Town in February so I'm starting to look at swimsuit/bikini options - this colourful neoprene number from the Tommy Hilfiger S/S 2014 show would be my absolute ideal but I may have to look at a couple of others that are more in my price range (like this one or this one!)
Outfit: leather cap, cable knit and Nike Air Pegasus
Leather cap: ASOS
Jumper: Gap (men's) (similar)
Leather trousers: ASOS
Trainers: Nike
London is so gloomy at the moment! The rain seems never-ending and all I want to do is bundle up from the cold. Big jumpers and comfy trainers are perfect for this, as are a cheeky hair-tuck and leather cap to hide dodgy wind/rain hair.
These Nikes were a Christmas present (they're now on sale!) and I pretty much haven't taken them off in the past couple of weeks - they're so comfortable and the bright colours add a little summin' summin' to my winter wardrobe of black and grey.
Outfit: & other stories open back dress
Dress: & other stories
Heels: ASOS
Happy New Year! This is the outfit I wore to bring 2014 in; I know the quality of these photos isn't great - they were taken quickly in the flat before heading out (I'm dreaming of rain-free days and good natural light!)
As far as resolutions go I haven't really got any in particular (let's face it, they never work!) except to generally have a more positive mindset. I always seem to compare myself to others but I know this is completely pointless so my goal for this year is to learn to be happy with my lot whilst still striving for what I want.
Blog-wise I hope Style Trunk will continue to grow. I'll carry on with my outfit posts and there'll also be some more travel posts as I have some exciting trips coming up (hellooo Cape Town in February!), but are there any other posts you would like to see? Let me know in the comments below!
Outfit: Zara co-ord
Top and trousers: Zara
Heels: ASOS
I love a good co-ord and this one is no exception; I wore this outfit for Christmas day (no onesies in our house), which I spent back in Liverpool with my family. I had such a lovely week of eating, drinking, sleeping and generally forgetting what day it was - now I'm trying to ease myself back into normal working life (no mean feat!) and remember that other food groups exist beyond leftover turkey and tins of roses.
